Proposing
Propose a Special Issue
Journal of Applied Robotics and Artificial Intelligence welcomes proposals for focused collections that address important questions in applied robotics and artificial intelligence. Researchers with relevant expertise are invited to review the proposal requirements below and contact the editorial office.
Subject
The question the collection addresses, and why it needs a collection rather than a set of unrelated submissions.
Guest editors
Who would edit it, with their affiliations and their standing in the subject.
Scope
The kinds of contribution invited, written so an author can tell whether their work belongs.
Timetable
A realistic opening date, a submission window and an expected publication period.
Independence
How submissions from the guest editors themselves, and from their close collaborators, would be handled.
Conditions
How a collection is run
A special issue is part of the journal, not an exception to it. Every manuscript in a collection is assessed the same way as a regular submission.
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewer roles.
Guest editors take no part in decisions on their own submissions or on those of close collaborators; the editorial office arranges independent handling. The journal’s policies apply to a collection in full.

Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year, across every subject area on Aims & Scope. A manuscript does not need a collection to reach the journal.
