How to send a manuscript
The primary route is ManuscriptZone, the publisher’s manuscript tracking system, which lets authors follow progress. Two alternatives are available and are read by the same editorial office.

Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
Submissions through any of the three routes reach the same editorial office and are assessed the same way, in the same order.

The manuscript
Prepared to the structure and limits in Instructions for Authors, in standard English.
A manuscript type
Research Article, Review Article, Systematic Review and Meta-analysis, Methods/Algorithm Article, Data/Benchmark/Resource Article, Technical Note, Short Communication, and Application/Case Study. Editorial and Perspective/Commentary articles are published by invitation only.
A cover letter
Disclosing any prior abstract or related publication, and carrying author details if double-blind review is wanted.
Ethics documentation
Ethics approval and informed consent for research with human participants, ethics approval for research with animals, and trial registration details where they apply.
A data-availability statement
Required for every empirical research manuscript.
Disclosures
Funding, competing interests and any use of generative AI in preparing the manuscript.
Afterwards
What happens next
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewer roles.
The article processing charge applies once a manuscript has been accepted, and submission itself is free of charge. Editorial Policies sets out appeals, corrections and withdrawal.
