What is established, category by category
Open access, article metadata, metadata harvesting, preservation, funder deposit and selective journal-level indexing are six distinct services, and a journal holds a separate position in each. Each is stated here on its own terms.

Open access
Every article the journal has published is readable in full, without a subscription or a reader account, in the browser and as a PDF.
Authors retain copyright, and articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license, so others may share and adapt the work with attribution.

Article metadata
Each article page carries structured bibliographic metadata for the title, the authors, the journal, the publication date and the pagination, in the form discovery services read.

Metadata harvesting
Open Access Pub operates an OAI-PMH repository at openaccesspub.org/oai, through which services may harvest article metadata using the standard protocol.

Digital preservation
The journal’s content is committed to Portico, the not-for-profit archive that keeps the published record available for the long term. The full statement and the publisher’s preservation policy follow below.

Funder deposit
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS).
Deposit of an individual manuscript is a funder-compliance route, distinct from journal-level indexing.

Journal-level indexing
Selective indexing is a decision each database takes about a journal as a whole, on its own criteria and timetable, and it is a category of its own alongside those above.

Preservation
The preservation archive
This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.
