Biography
Dr. Adwoa Asante-Poku, PhD, BSc, is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Ghana Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in Legon, Greater Accra. She received her education from the University of Ghana and the University of Basel, and her research focuses on tuberculosis, molecular epidemiology, and host genetics. Dr. Asante-Poku has authored more than 13 indexed publications, with her most influential work being "Phylogenomics of Mycobacterium africanum reveals a new lineage and a complex evolutionary history" (2021), which has been cited 100 times. Her contributions advance understanding of tuberculosis pathogen evolution and transmission dynamics in endemic settings.
