Pancreatic Cancer Treatment
Pancreatic cancer is a serious and deadly form of cancer that starts in the pancreas, a small organ located in the upper abdomen. While there is currently no cure for this type of cancer, treatments such as surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted drug therapy are available to prolong life, reduce symptoms and improve a patient’s quality of life. Depending on the progression of the cancer and other factors, a combination of treatments may be used. Regular monitoring after treatment is important to ensure the cancer has not returned or spread. Advances in research and treatment have seen significant improvements in the outlook of pancreatic cancer patients.
