Insulin Signaling Cascade

Insulin signaling cascade is a series of biochemical steps triggered by the binding of insulin to the insulin receptor on the cell surface. The cascade leads to biochemical changes inside the cell and ultimately to the modulation of metabolic processes, such as glucose and lipid metabolism. Insulin signaling cascade is important for maintaining homeostasis in an organism. It plays a critical role in regulating glucose, fat, and protein metabolism as well as growth and development. Abnormalities in this process can be associated with major diseases such as type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Understanding the insulin signaling cascade can help in the design of therapeutic measures and the development of better drugs to treat these diseases.
