International Journal of Nutrition

ISSN 2379-7835

IJN publishes rigorous research across the full spectrum of human nutrition - from molecular mechanisms to population health and policy. The journal welcomes original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses across nutritional biochemistry, diet-disease relationships, nutritional physiology, and microbiome/gut health. Work should show a clear nutritional-health focus and relevance for researchers, clinicians, or public-health decision makers.

Free to submit and be reviewed — APC applies only on acceptance. Fee waivers considered by exception.

Aims & Scope

What the journal publishes

IJN publishes rigorous research across the full spectrum of human nutrition — from molecular mechanisms to population health and policy. Submissions are organised around four core domains.

Nutritional Biochemistry & Metabolism

  • Macro- and micronutrient metabolism
  • Nutrient–gene interactions & epigenetics
  • Oxidative stress and energy metabolism

Diet & Disease Relationships

  • Cardiometabolic disease and dietary patterns
  • Obesity, diabetes and glycaemic control
  • Immunonutrition and inflammatory disease

Nutritional Physiology & Regulation

  • Appetite, satiety and the gut–brain axis
  • Chrononutrition and circadian regulation
  • Early-life and life-course nutrition

Microbiome & Gut Health

  • Dietary modulation of gut microbiota
  • Prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics
  • Microbial metabolites and host metabolism

We give priority to original research, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Work centred on food technology, agricultural production or pharmacology without a clear nutritional-health focus is outside our scope. See the full aims & scope →
