Title page, abstract, and manuscript organization
Title-page requirements
Provide a title of no more than 30 words, a running title of no more than 60 characters, full author names and affiliations, corresponding-author details, ORCID iDs where available, article type, word count, number of figures and tables, funding, and competing interests.
Abstract and keywords
Use the structure appropriate to the article type. Abstracts must not exceed 250 words. Provide 5–12 specific keywords. State a clinical-trial registration number at the end of the abstract when applicable.
Manuscript organization
Research articles normally use Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Case reports follow CARE; systematic reviews follow PRISMA. Reviews, short communications, mini-reviews, and letters should use headings that make the argument and evidence easy to evaluate.
Reporting, ethics, and research transparency
Reporting guidelines
Use CONSORT for randomized trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews, CARE for case reports, STARD for diagnostic-accuracy studies, ARRIVE for animal studies, REMARK for tumor-marker studies, and TRIPOD+AI for applicable prediction-model studies. Submit the checklist and flow diagram where required.
Clinical-trial requirements
Register interventional clinical trials in an accepted public registry at or before the first participant provides consent for enrollment. Report the registry, registration number, and date; include the CONSORT checklist and flow diagram, protocol information, and a data-sharing statement.
Authorship and contributorship
All authors must meet accepted authorship criteria, approve the submitted version, and agree to the author order. State corresponding-author responsibilities, explain authorship changes, identify nonauthor contributions in the acknowledgments, and provide CRediT roles where applicable.
Originality and prior publication
Confirm that the manuscript is original and not under simultaneous consideration. Disclose related manuscripts, preprints, conference abstracts, prior presentations, and permissions for reused material.
AI-assisted tools
AI tools cannot be authors. Disclose the tool name, version, purpose, and affected section. Authors must verify all output and remain responsible for accuracy, originality, citations, confidentiality, and integrity.
Figures, tables, statistics, data, and code
Figures and image integrity
Upload separate high-resolution files with legends, scale bars, and required permissions. Do not obscure, add, remove, or selectively enhance image features. Describe processing for microscopy, pathology, flow cytometry, and gels or blots. Protect patient identity and provide consent where needed.
Tables and supplementary material
Submit editable tables with concise titles, defined abbreviations, numbered footnotes, and citations in order. Label supplementary files clearly. Use an appropriate repository for large datasets.
Statistical reporting
Describe design, sample-size rationale, experimental units, missing data, effect estimates, confidence intervals, exact P values, software and version, multiple-comparison handling, and biological and technical replicates.
Data and code
Every research manuscript requires a data-availability statement. Provide repository names, persistent identifiers, accession numbers, code, and protocols where applicable. Explain ethical or legal access restrictions.
References
Use a numbered Vancouver-style list in citation order. Give complete details and DOI links where available for journal articles, books, websites, datasets, preprints, trial registrations, and other persistent records.
Acknowledgments
Identify funding and nonauthor contributions with permission. Use American English throughout publisher-facing manuscript material.
