Aims and Scope

Journal of Current Scientific Research (JCSR) is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, open-access journal that considers meaningful scientific research across all scientific disciplines. It publishes fundamental, applied, empirical, theoretical, computational, methodological and interdisciplinary work that makes a substantive and assessable contribution to knowledge. The research domains listed on this page are illustrative rather than exhaustive; suitability is determined by the scientific contribution, the strength of the methods or scholarly reasoning, the evidence supporting the conclusions, ethical compliance, and the availability of appropriate editorial and peer-review expertise.

It lists the research domains and their subjects, the interdisciplinary and emerging areas, what a manuscript has to establish, and what falls outside the scope. The following groups illustrate the journal's broad multidisciplinary coverage. They are not an exhaustive list of eligible scientific disciplines. Scientific contributions from fields not named here are considered on the same basis. Qualified editorial handling and independent peer-review expertise must be available for each submission.

Further and interdisciplinary areas

Disciplinary and cross-disciplinary research

Multidisciplinary describes the journal's coverage of several scientific fields. An individual manuscript may remain within one discipline. Interdisciplinary research connects concepts, methods or evidence from two or more fields to address a shared scientific question.

Interdisciplinary submissions should explain how the fields are connected and why that combination is scientifically useful. Methods must be appropriate to the question, disciplinary assumptions should be explicit, and review must cover the relevant expertise. Adding unrelated topics or scientific terminology does not establish a contribution.

How these are handled

The journal must identify a handling editor and reviewers with the expertise needed to assess each submission, whether or not the discipline appears in the examples above. If suitable expertise cannot be arranged, the manuscript will not proceed to external review. Editorial board information is available on the Editorial Board page.

Authors should state the scientific question, methods and contribution. A topic's novelty does not by itself establish scientific value or justify a claim.

How assessment is tailored

Specialist assessment is arranged where a manuscript requires additional methodological, ethical or disciplinary expertise. This depends on the particular study and its claims, not simply on whether its field is described as emerging.

What a manuscript must establish

Standards matched to the study

JCSR considers all scientific disciplines. Suitability is determined by the quality and meaningfulness of the scientific contribution, not by inclusion in a fixed subject list. The following standards guide editorial assessment according to the manuscript category and study design; they are not a requirement that every submission contain laboratory measurements. Empirical, theoretical, computational, qualitative, exploratory and synthesis work may fit under the accepted article categories when it makes a substantive and assessable contribution.

  • A clear scientific question or purpose State the question, objective or scholarly purpose and explain its relevance. Exploratory and data-driven research may fit; distinguish exploratory analyses and hypotheses generated from the data from prespecified confirmatory tests.
  • Methods or reasoning that can be assessed Describe procedures, data, materials, code and analysis where applicable. Theoretical work should expose assumptions and derivations; qualitative work should explain its design and interpretation; reviews should state how evidence was selected and assessed. Supply enough detail for appropriate scrutiny and reproduction.
  • Evidence appropriate to the contribution Quantitative measurements should report relevant units, calibration, uncertainty and statistical methods. Computational, theoretical and qualitative work should provide the validation, formal reasoning, source evidence or analytic transparency appropriate to its claims. Physical instrumentation is not a universal condition of eligibility.
  • Conclusions supported by evidence or argument Conclusions must follow from the evidence or scholarly argument, with limitations explicit. Empirical causal claims require clearly specified procedures and appropriate controls, with randomization and blinding where feasible and relevant. An observed effect does not establish its proposed mechanism; mechanistic claims need evidence that distinguishes them from plausible alternatives.
  • Ethics and declarations in place Ethical approval, informed consent, competing interests and funding are declared where they apply, and every empirical research manuscript must include a data-availability statement.
  • A substantive scientific contribution Explain what the work adds through new evidence, a method, a useful dataset, replication, synthesis or a reasoned scientific argument. Local or descriptive studies may fit when they have scientific value beyond routine reporting. Sound negative or null findings are considered on the same basis as positive results; broad generalizability or high impact is not a universal requirement.

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Outside the scope

What the journal declines

The boundaries below distinguish scientific work from unsupported assertions, routine reporting and promotion. They apply to the contribution and claims rather than to a study's novelty, commercial origin or use of a particular research method.

  • Unsupported scientific or therapeutic claims Empirical claims that cannot be evaluated through the specified procedures and evidence, or that attribute results to an intervention or proposed agency without adequate support. A treatment's name, an assertion of intent or a change in an endpoint is not proof of the claimed mechanism. A mechanism that is not yet understood does not, by itself, exclude a well-designed study of a testable effect.
  • Opinion presented as a finding Unsubstantiated factual assertions presented as established findings. Perspectives, editorials and letters may offer reasoned interpretation or debate without new experimental data, provided their evidence, arguments and limitations can be assessed.
  • Description without a contribution Routine descriptions with no clear scientific purpose or substantive contribution. This does not exclude informative observational studies, data descriptors, replication studies or well-supported negative results.
  • Local operational reports Institutional audits, service reviews and internal process reports with no bearing beyond the site where they were carried out.
  • Promotional content Manuscripts whose purpose is advertising rather than scientific reporting. Research on proprietary or branded drugs, devices, materials or software may fit when it meets the same scientific standards and discloses funding and competing interests.
  • Work the journal cannot assess responsibly Submissions for which appropriate editorial handling and qualified independent peer review cannot be arranged. A discipline is not excluded merely because it is not specifically named on this page.

Scope and the availability of suitable editorial expertise are assessed during initial screening. Meeting the scope does not guarantee that a manuscript will proceed to review or be accepted.

What to submit, and how

Accepted article types

Original research articles · Review articles · Systematic reviews and meta-analyses · Scoping reviews · Short communications · Technical notes · Methods and protocols · Data descriptors · Replication studies · Perspectives · Scientific case studies · Editorials · Letters.

Perspectives develop a substantiated scholarly interpretation, critical synthesis or scientific argument. They need not report new experiments, but should engage with relevant evidence and make their reasoning and limitations clear.

Scoping reviews map the extent, characteristics and gaps in a body of evidence. They use the systematic-review preparation limits in Instructions for Authors, with PRISMA-ScR reporting requirements.

Scientific case studies provide a systematic analysis of a case, event, system or setting with a clear scientific purpose, appropriate methods or evidence, and an explicit contribution beyond anecdotal description. Applicable ethics, confidentiality and consent requirements remain in force.

Use guidance appropriate to the design and relevant extensions. Narrative and critical reviews should explain their purpose, how literature was selected, the basis for critical interpretation and the limitations of the synthesis; a systematic search or PRISMA checklist is not required unless the review uses a systematic methodology. For non-clinical scientific case studies and protocols outside these designs, follow the applicable disciplinary reporting conventions.

Preprints

Posting a manuscript to arXiv, bioRxiv, medRxiv or ChemRxiv before submission does not affect its consideration. Authors are asked to declare the posting and its identifier, and the published version supersedes the preprint as the version of record.

Data and materials

Every empirical research manuscript must include a data-availability statement. Deposition in a public repository is encouraged where the data permit it, computational work should state where the code can be obtained, and reagents and materials should be obtainable by other groups.

Ethics

Studies involving human participants, identifiable human data or animals must report approval from the appropriate ethics committee or equivalent body, or an applicable exemption and its basis. Human-participant research must document informed consent or an approved waiver, identifying the body that granted it. Written consent for publication is required where an individual could be identifiable. Competing interests and all funding sources are declared at submission.
