Biography

Oswaldo Valdes-López is a Professor of Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México Facultad de Estudios Superiores Iztacala in Tlalnepantla, Estado de México, Mexico, where his research focuses on symbiosis, legumes, rhizobia, phosphorus deficiency, and plant-microbe interactions. He received his training at the Centro de Ciencias Genómicas and has authored over 14 indexed publications investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying legume-rhizobia symbiosis and plant responses to nutrient stress. His most-cited work, "Inhibition of legume nodulation by Pi deficiency is dependent on the autoregulation of nodulation (AON) pathway" (2020), has been cited 52 times and exemplifies his contributions to understanding how phosphorus availability regulates nitrogen fixation. His research portfolio includes studies on microRNA regulation in soybean and common bean nodulation, transcriptional and proteomic responses to abiotic stress, and the role of phenylpropanoids and copper homeostasis in legume biology.
