Biography
Dr. Hao Deng (PhD, MS) is a Professor and Doctoral supervisor at Central South University in Changsha, Hunan, China. He received his doctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine and completed earlier studies at Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University. His research focuses on molecular genetics and neurogenetics, with significant contributions to understanding hereditary neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders, including Parkinson's disease, muscular dystrophy, dystonia, Wilson's disease, and cerebral small vessel diseases. Dr. Deng's work encompasses the identification of disease-causing mutations in genes such as TMEM230, NOTCH3, FUS, SNCA, and titin, as well as investigations into the genetic basis of brain calcification and congenital cataracts. His most-cited publication, "CADASIL: A NOTCH3-associated cerebral small vessel disease" (2024), has received 56 citations, and he has authored over 29 indexed publications in the field of neurogenetics.
