Biography

Iman Zarei is a researcher at Razi University, Iran, specializing in the application of metabolomics to study the effects of gut microbiota on host metabolome and the identification of dietary biomarkers from human intervention studies. Dr. Zarei completed doctoral research at Colorado State University (2016–2018), focusing on metabolomics analyses of nutritional interventions including the Beans/Bran Enriching Nutritional Eating For Intestinal Health Trial (BENEFIT) and studies examining the effects of rice bran and cooked navy beans on cholesterol levels in healthy children. The most-cited work from this research, "Rice bran supplementation modulates growth, microbiota and metabolome in weaning infants: a clinical trial in Nicaragua and Mali" (2019), has been cited 50 times and demonstrates the impact of dietary interventions on infant gut microbiota and metabolic profiles. Dr. Zarei has also held a postdoctoral position at the University of Eastern Finland, continuing work on gut microbiota–metabolome interactions.
