Biography

Dr. Silvia Lemma is a Research Fellow (Assegnista di ricerca) at the University of Bologna, Italy, where she also completed her PhD at the Università degli Studi di Bologna. Her research focuses on cancer metabolism, tumor microenvironment acidosis, and bone metastases, with particular emphasis on the metabolic interplay between cancer cells and stromal components in osteolytic processes. She has made significant contributions to understanding energy metabolism in osteoclasts, drug resistance mechanisms in osteosarcoma, and the role of intratumoral acidosis in cancer-induced bone pain. Her most-cited work, "Validation of Suitable Housekeeping Genes for the Normalization of mRNA Expression for Studying Tumor Acidosis" (2018), has been cited 20 times and reflects her expertise in molecular methodologies for cancer research.
