Biography

Dr. Matheus Chupel is a Post Doctoral Fellow at the Sunnybrook Research Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He earned his PhD from the University of Coimbra and has held academic affiliations with Centro Universitário do Vale do Iguaçú - Uniguaçu and Universidade do Contestado. His research interests focus on exercise physiology, immunology, and supplementation, particularly examining the effects of physical activity and nutrition on aging metabolism, inflammation, oxidative stress, the blood-brain barrier, and neurotrophic factors related to brain health. His most-cited work, "Effect of Training-Detraining Phases of Multicomponent Exercises and BCAA Supplementation on Inflammatory Markers and Albumin Levels in Frail Older Persons" (2021), has received 32 citations and exemplifies his contributions to understanding exercise and nutritional interventions in aging populations.
